An eventful action packed night took place at the hall with which satisfied all the fight fans in attendance.

It was named ELITE CRANES CUP after the main sponsors

There were three championship fights, 12 rounds being an interim IBF Pan Pacific Welterweight title, 10 rounds for the WBF Intercontinental Light Middleweight title and 8 rounds for the Victorian Cruiserweight title.

Interim IBF Pan Pacific Welterweight title

Heath Ellis takes Jakkirt Suwunnalirt to schoolEllis V Thai

Ellis displayed a masterful and stylish win over Suwunnalirt and again displayed signs that he is ready to tackle the bigger guns in the game.

After a stylish first round Ellis tried a few potential ko punches in the second but fell short of target.

In the third a sharp left hook, part of a speedy combination dropped Suwunnalirt for an eight count.

In the ninth round Ellis missed an opportunity as he had his opponent shaken but missed following it up or didn’t want to take the risk in case of it being a luring act.

All in all I gave Ellis every round of the fight.

Suwunnalirt is no pussy in boxing and has gone 12 rounds distance with Current IBO champ Lovemore N’dou and stopped by Michael Katsidis holder of the WBO lightweight title.

WBF Intercontinental Light Middleweight title.Delic v McMahon

Eddie Delic gets the pat over Shannon McMahon in what seems a potential YVB fight of the year award winner.

Eddie Delic scored a dramatic unanimous points win in his grudge match with McMahon in a fight that kept the crowd on its feet from start to finish. In the process Delic claimed the vacant WBF Intercontinental light-middleweight title.

Box On the Docks # 6 Melbourne

Melbourne leading promoters Brian Amatruda & Barry Michael Sports presented at

Docklands a nine fight on Sunday August 16th 2009 and like expected  fired up a great show under the venue that cost 10 million dollars to make into one of the nicest places in Melbourne. Master of ceremonies Howard Leigh once again presented a First class show.

After a fifteen month absence from the ring, Sam “King” Soliman returned in a very big way with an impressive seventh round stoppage over Thailand’s durable Singtung Kietbusaba to pick up the IBF Australasian and IBO Asia Pacific middleweight titles.

Soliman entered the ring to a standing ovation after five hours of brilliant boxing action that featured an all out war between knockout sensation Solomon Haumono and former Amateur star Justin Whitehead along with impressive victories for Melbourne prospects Lance Gostelow, Daniel Iannazzo, Samuel Colomban and Pat Rullo.

From the opening bell it was clear that Soliman was several classes above his opponent as he taunted, ducked and weaved almost everything the hard-punching Kietbusaba threw at him… this was to the delight of the 1500 strong crowd in attendance at Melbourne’s high-class riverside venue Shed 14 at the Docklands.

Round after round Soliman made his opponent look C Class as he pounded away at Kietbusaba’s body and outworked his opponent by at least six punches to one. At times it almost appeared as if Soliman could have ended whenever he pleased as he seemed to ease up on his opponent when he could have clearly put him away.

After seven rounds of complete domination along with two knockdowns, Soliman finally put away Kietbusaba with a neat combination that left the Thai flat on his back and with no answers. Referee Malcolm Bulner waved off the contest, declaring Soliman a knockout winner.

At the conclusion of the announcement and presentation of the championship belts, leading Melbourne promoter Brian Amatruda has this to say; “It was a great performance tonight from Sam who always puts in 100%… we have him on a three-fight contract and we will continue to step up his opponents. We eventually want a fight possibly early next year against for the IBO middleweight world title against Daniel Geale”.

Solimans’ record improved to 36-11, 14 KO’s whilst Kietbusaba’s record dropped to 11-7, 10 KO’s.
