What to Appear For in an Education School

When you are looking for a fantastic CBT motorcycle training school you must take into consideration the following:
- The company’s status
- The rates
- The instructors

They are just a number of in the factors which you must think of. If you wish to obtain CBT moped education in London as an example, the prices is often pretty highly-priced. Consequently it is a very good notion to shop around and get as numerous quotes as doable. Get Bike is 1 business that delivers very affordable rates and their popularity is actually good as well.

Which is one more thing that you have to consider. Occasionally it’s superior to spend a little far more capital to obtain the best feasible coaching. Cheaper just isn’t normally the superior alternative. When you find motorbike schools that you such as the look of, you should study as considerably about them as you may prior to you concur to show up at any form of education. Most schools present a free one hour consultation which is an excellent way to discover in the event you would match in. You’ll get to keep track of the teacher and request them any concerns that you could have. In the finish with the hour you need to know whether you along with the teacher would fit.

Not each teacher are going to be simple to get together with. Everybody is various and there could effortlessly be considered a clash of personalities. The great thing is that most colleges have a couple of various instructors. So even if you don’t get together with one, it is possible to request an unique teacher if you want to.

Whenever you are searching at costs for CBT moped training, look at no matter if the organization charges hidden fees. Some education colleges will charge you extra bicycle employ charges and insurance charges. Should you own your own bicycle and you also program to find out on that then you definitely do not must worry about bike hire charges. Having said that, if you are organizing to use the school’s bikes then it would be a superb notion to ask concerning the costs concerned.

The objective of CBT education is always to decrease the danger of motorcycle accidents on the highway. You can’t ride a bicycle around the streets until you may have finished your CBT motorcycle training schools. Deciding upon the most beneficial motor bike training that you simply can come across is vital if you’d like the best doable education. The above are just a number of of the issues which you have to take into consideration prior to picking a college to match you.

We tell ourselves a lot of fibs about why we travel. We say we want to explore new countries. We want to see the sights, to meet the people, to eat the food. Really, though, the reason most of us like to travel is because when we’re abroad, we’re more adventurous, more experimental, more fun. We become the people we’d really like to be.

For most of us, daily life is about routine. We don’t just catch the same bus every morning: we walk the same route to the bus stop. Every day. We don’t just grab a coffee at 10am: we order a decaf double soy latte with one sugar. Every day. There’s not a lot of room for spontaneity or for experimentation.

Take us out of our comfort zone, however, and we break free from the rigid routines we’ve built up. The woman who orders a BLT for lunch every day (“no butter, bacon on the side”) will gamely grab something unidentifiable from a street vendor to see what it tastes like. The man who never exchanges a word with anyone on his daily train trip starts trying to have a conversation with the African woman sitting at the bus stop holding a goat.

Personally, I find it’s not just my inhibitions I shed when I’m abroad: it’s also my clothes. Somehow, my getting-friendly-with-the-locals routine often seems to involve some degree of nakedness.

I’m not what you’d call an exhibitionist. At home, I expose about as much flesh as the next person. In the gym changing room, I don’t struggle into my underwear while trying to keep a towel secured around myself, but nor do I parade around buck-naked (unlike some people).

When I was working in magazines, I was once accosted in the gym changing room at lunch by a woman wearing only a towel (around her head), who greeted me enthusiastically. It took me a moment to recognise her: she turned out to be an advertiser who, last time I’d seen her, was in a boardroom wearing a three-piece suit. Awkwardly, I blurted out, “Sorry, didn’t recognise you without your clothes on.”

Take me to a different country, however, and I’ll happily get naked with anyone. I could blame the Finns for it. (Much can be blamed on the Finns, particularly if you try to keep up with them when they’re drinking.) On my first trip to Helsinki, I made some great Finnish friends who introduced me to a range of local customs, including the mixed sauna as a social activity – something you do on a Friday night instead of going to the cinema, say.

At home, I might think twice before getting naked in front of 20 of my closest friends. When you’re away, however, it’s easier to go with the flow. And when a naked Finnish man sits down next to you and starts flirting with you, well, you just flirt right back.

It was also the Finns who, on another trip, took me to St Petersburg, where we decided to explore the Russian sauna experience. We went to a sauna in a rundown suburb of St Petersburg, where the only other people soaking up the steam were red-faced, broad-backed babushkas who looked as if they should be out working the potato field.

I was sitting in the sauna, squeezed between three of these bulky, sweating women, when suddenly I felt a great whack across my back. I looked around, startled, to see one of the grandmas grinning at me, a hefty selection of birch twigs firmly gripped in her meaty fist. Apparently this is part of the Russian spa experience. Now, I can’t imagine any circumstance at home in which I’d get into mild S&M with someone’s naked grandma: but hey, this was Russia. Smiling my acquiescence, I let her beat me – then offered to do the same for her. It seemed only polite.

In Korea, I also ended up in one of the country’s famous bathhouses with a new acquaintance, a petite local (five-foot-nothing to my six-foot). As we sat together, naked, side by side in a steaming bath, she proceeded to itemise the differences in our body shapes – a catalogue that went something like this:

“Look at feet – yours so big, mine so small,” pointing at our feet. “Look at legs – yours so long, mine so small,” stroking my thigh. “Look at your backside – yours so big, mine so small …”

It was about this time my jaw hit the floor – until she ran her hand up and down my back, and I realised she was talking about the back side of my body – that is, my back.

Some people might dismiss this serial nudity as the chameleon effect: it’s easy to lose your inhibitions when everyone else is doing it. But I’d argue it’s something more than that.

When you’re travelling, there’s no one to judge you, so you can play by your own rules. You relax enough to become the person you’d like to be, not the person circumstances have made you. You shed the baggage you usually lug around with you – and as any frequent traveller knows, travelling light makes any journey much more enjoyable.

Whether your dream beach trip consists of spending a few pampered nights in a four-star resort or swimming among tropical fish some 80 feet (24 meters) underwater, the Maldives are the sort of islands where either—or both—can come true. Straddling the equator southwest of Sri Lanka, the 1,102 islands that make up the Maldives form 26 atolls. The soft air enveloping the archipelago blends into a beautiful palm-fringed haze

The Maldives

A perfect destination whether your dream beach trip consists of spending a few pampered nights in a four-star resort or swimming among tropical fish some 80 feet underwater.

 Seychelles

One of the most photographed beaches in the world, the pale pink sands of Anse Source d’Argent unfurls across the island of La Digue, one of the 115 components of this archipelago in the Indian Ocean. The sands sparkle against a backdrop of towering granite boulders, worn by time and weather. The turquoise water is relatively shallow and protected from the ocean’s waves by a reef.

Bora Bora, Tahiti

This is one of the magical islands that make up French Polynesia in the South Pacific. Just 18 miles (29 kilometers) long, this lush little slip of land lies in a protected lagoon edged by white sandy shores, the best being at Matira Point. Bora Bora boasts the nickname the “Romantic Island,” a moniker easy to appreciate with its isolated beaches, intimate hotels, and quiet atmosphere.

The Hamptons, New York

One of the hip spots for the air-kissing, well-heeled set, the Hamptons boast some of the prettiest beaches on Long Island. The unspoiled shoreline begins around Southampton and runs east to the end of the island at Montauk. Windswept dunes and waving grasses border the Atlantic Ocean.

Lanikai Beach, Hawaii

Half a mile of sparkling sand, palm trees swaying over a white beach, lush tropical plants, and endless sunshine make Lanikai one of Hawaii’s most scenic beaches. The shore is protected by a nearby coral reef, which keeps the surf relatively calm. The water is always deep green and postcard-perfect.

Nantucket Island, Massachusetts

The most popular beaches on this island in the North Atlantic are Surfside and Children’s. The waters here are relatively calm, and there’s plenty of sand to use for sunbathing or castle-building. Madaket Beach is known for its rougher surf and not-to-be-missed sunsets. Quidnet Beach provides great views of Sankaty Head lighthouse.

Fraser Island, Australia

Perched on the sunny Queensland coast 161 miles (259 kilometers) northeast of Brisbane, Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand island and home to a wonderful beach. This World Heritage Site is an ecologist’s dream, with 640 square miles (1,664 square kilometers) of unspoiled natural paradise. Rain forests with 1,000-year-old trees sprout from the sand. Lodgings here accommodate a wide range of tourists, from the backpacking ecology lover to pampered resort fans.

St. Bart’s, Caribbean

One of many islands in the Caribbean Sea, St. Bart’s stands out with its blend of French chic and island relaxation. With beautiful secluded beaches, fine French cuisine, and gracious hotels, this tropical playground is popular with the Jet Set. The 8-mile-long (13-kilometer-long) island is edged by 20 beaches and small coves for swimmers and sunbathers, with sparkling water and white sand.

Langkawi, Malaysia

The name “Langkawi” translates into “the land of one’s wishes,” a welcoming concept that somewhat belies the island’s historic origins as a reputed refuge for pirates. Langkawi has since become a modern hideaway for the traveler seeking an escape. If your vacation wishes extend from uncrowded white sands and clear waters to lush green forests, you will find yourself content here. Datai Bay, located on Pulau Langkawi, is a heavenly retreat on the Andaman Sea.

Kauna’oa Bay, Hawaii

Located on the Kohala Coast of the Aloha State’s Big Island, Kauna’oa Bay is the quintessential Hawaiian spot. The 0.25-mile-long (0.4-kilometer-long), crescent-shaped beach has plenty of white sand, palm trees, and calm, clear, blue water. In addition to swimming and sunbathing, beachgoers here can snorkel or ride boogie boards. (Be careful swimming, however, because there are no lifeguards on this public beach.) At night, nestle into the sands and peer out into the water to see if you can catch a glimpse of manta rays swimming.

Top Ten Places to Live in the World

There are many factors that make the place we live the place we love to call home. Environment, weather, history, politics, economy, infrastructure, social climate, and entertainment all play a part. When choosing a place to live, your decision should be based on what issues are important to you. Finding the right combination of features is the key to loving where you live.

Meuse River, The Netherlands

Healthcare and Tolerance – Amsterdam, The Netherlands

In 2009 the Netherlands was named as having the best healthcare system in Europe by the Euro Health Consumer Index. Six criterion examined were patient rights and information, e-health, waiting times for treatment, outcomes, range and reach of services provided and pharmaceuticals. The Netherlands is additionally praised for its minimal bureaucracy and patient empowerment.

The Netherlands, particularly Amsterdam, has become infamous for its tolerance of the taboo. The Dutch believe that people should make moral decisions with little interference from government. Marijuana is legal. Tattoo parlors, sex shops, and the red light district draw tourists. Hostels are packed during the peak summer season.

As far as culture, there are famous museums where you can see work by Van Gogh, Vermeer, and Rembrandt. One can learn the story of Anne Frank, relax in beautiful parks and ride a bike almost anywhere. According to Claudio.Ar, “It is said that Amsterdam has more canals than Venice, more cafes than Vienna and more bridges than Paris. The tours let you discover them and other secrets of the city.”

Best Place for Singles – New York City, USA

Hudson River, New York

In the mood for love? Although the cost of living is still high in New York, it has become slightly more affordable due to the recent economic downturn. In fact with many singles now unemployed, unmarried folks are taking advantage of their severance packages and enjoying all the city has to offer. With 35,000 restaurants, 3,800 bars, and 734 museums there is definitely plenty to do in New York City. The popular dating site, Match.com, has more active accounts in the NYC area than any other locale. Living in New York does, however require a high tolerance for crowds of people.

“The City That Never Sleeps” comes by its title easily. From piano bars to jazz lounges (and a few dozen dives of course), New York’s nightlife keeps the city hopping until early morning hours. Nightclubs like the Marquee feature world famous DJs for the partiers who love to dance. Other locals favor the Gotham Comedy Club, which Frommer’s guide declares New York’s “trendiest and most sophisticated comedy club.”

Whatever your interest, you’re sure to find it in New York City – day or night.

Mild Climate & English Speaking – Malta

Maltese islands

The island nation just 60 miles from Sicily, Republic of Malta, is a repeated winner of Quality of Life Index awards for best climate. With a daily average of over five hours of sunshine, mild winters, and hot summers – Malta is considered ideal by many. Diving, sailing, and colorful festivals abound. Golf and horseback riding are popular pastimes.

There are few sandy beaches and yes – sometimes it does rain on the Maltese islands. If it’s raining you can head indoors for opera, theater, music, and ballet at the Manoel Theatre in Valletta. The Manoel is the second-oldest theater in Europe.

The government is politically stable in Malta. Cost of living is low. Crime is minimal. Locals are hospitable. Travel is not difficult, despite island status.

If you lived in Malta you could check off each item on list, 101 Things to do while on Holiday in Malta.

Family-Friendly – Virginia, USA

Virginia Beach

According to the official Virginia government website, $515,405 was awarded to 17 projects that support youth substance abuse and violence prevention programs for 2010.

Low Cost of Living & Retirement – Brazil

Sugarloaf Mountain, Rio de Janeiro

Brazil is the largest country in South America and therefore offers a broad range of opportunities for travel and diversity. From the Amazon jungles, to famous beaches, you will find the inhabitants friendly and hospitable. Although the nightlife is well known in Brazil, few are aware that Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are among the cheapest cities to live in (according to the Economist Intelligence Unit).

Want to pay off debt? Brazil is a good place to retire. Retirement visas are available with proof of income. It is common and legal for permanent residents to apply for Brazilian passports and keep their current citizenships and passports. Brazilian health care is very good. You do not need to be a citizen to use the national health care system. Patients pay nothing out of pocket for most care. For the highest quality health care private market providers are also available – for a fee. Even so, the fees are much less than purchasing independent health insurance in the U.S. In general, you get more for your money in Brazil.

Due to the well-developed agricultural, mining, manufacturing, and service industries, the economy of Brazil outweighs other countries in South America, and is quickly expanding its presence in international markets.

Simply Beautiful – Belize

Belize – Central America

Belize, considered one of the most beautiful countries in Central America, has it all. Belize touts great beaches, subtropical climate, diverse wildlife, and a low cost of living. The scuba diving and snorkeling is fabulous. The gorgeous waterfalls underneath the Maya Mountains are rivaled only by the hundreds of colorful species of birds flying the skies. Rent of a large house in Cayo district is only $300/month. Food at the local markets is very reasonably priced. The official language is English. The Retired Person’s Incentive Program starts at the ripe young age of 45 and allows tax free living.

Consider a snowbird lifestyle when it comes to living in Belize. The wet season is May to October. It rains all the time and there is a chance for hurricanes. But I’d stay November through April in this beautiful land, which is just where I’d like to be rather than the cold snowy land I call home that time of year.

Stunning Scenery – Cape Town, South Africa

Table Mountain, Cape Town

Cape Town features some of the most beautiful beaches and fascinating attractions in all of Africa. Families enjoy swimming in the warm waters along the False Bay coast, where whale watching is also popular. Kids swarm to Boulders Beach to see the penguins, and for a small fee, even swim with them. The hallmark of Cape Town is Table Mountain, a gigantic slab of sandstone with breathtaking views, trails for hiking, and paragliding for the adventurous. (Cable cars are available for the not-so-adventurous.)

The second most populated city in South Africa; Cape Town is known for being socially tolerant and culturally diverse. This coastal city is mild and rainy during the winter months, but dry and very warm the rest of the year. The bistros and restaurants offer a variety of world class cuisine to satisfy every palate, and are famous for their delicious wines. Clubs, lounges, and other entertainment venues make Cape Town ideal for the musically inclined. Thanks to the 2010 World Cup, business is booming in Cape Town. The real estate market is also on the upswing as more people relocate to this beautiful coastal city.

Economic Opportunities – Frankfurt, Germany

Frankfurt, Germany

Those looking for a certain quality of life find their high standards met in Frankfurt, the economic capital of Germany. The Frankfurt Stock Exchange is the largest in Germany, and one of the world’s most important. According to the Mercer Quality of Living survey, Frankfurt has the highest concentration of jobs in Germany, with 922 jobs per 1,000 residents.

Frankfurt inhabitants enjoy their city for more than its economic security. The museums, historical sites, and shopping districts are popular with the locals as well as tourists. Frankfurt is easy to travel in and out of, with one of the busiest airports in the world. Frankfurt Central Station is one of the biggest train stations in Europe, and few can resist the allure of the Autobahn. The views along the Main River are lovely, and Frankfurt is home to a number of beautiful landmarks such as the Imperial Cathedral, and the 50-acre Palmengarten flower garden. The cost of living is high, but is compensated with a low unemployment rate, easy transportation for business trips, and the fact that it is an industrial and financial powerhouse. Germany’s businesses are booming.

Most Romantic – Paris, France

Paris at Dusk

The air in Paris simply breathes romance. Not only is the enchanting ambience the perfect setting for romance, (who can see the Eiffel Tower without thinking of L’amour?) the cozy bistros and dimly lit restaurants are ideal for couples in love. Paris is not just for lovers; its rich heritage and stunning architecture draw millions. The Louvre, Palace of Versailles, and Notre Dame are just a few of the beautiful buildings that grace the Paris skyline. An incredible array of paintings and art are sure to please museum goers.

As the fashion capital of the world, Paris is home to some of the most popular designers. Those looking for a career in fashion couldn’t find a more fitting place to study or work. The drawback for Parisians is a high cost of living. The good news is- Paris features some of Europe’s largest corporations, and researchers expect an increase in employment opportunities in the future. So for those who can swing it, the comfort and quality of the French life is a truly unforgettable experience. Not to mention, absolutely delicious.

Sizzling and Sexy – Miami, Florida USA

THE art of travel is all about smoothing your way.

Choosing the right hotel; taking care of the transport; deciding where to eat, and not to eat; and dealing with the challenges that materialise along the way are moments that deliver memories, good and bad, and build your experience as a traveler.

These are the kind of moments that aren’t up there with mid-air emergencies or back-street muggings.

But, minor as they are they can test our patience, our composure and even our moral codes, making us feel a long way from home.

Here are just a handful of common tricky travel moments and some suggestions as to how to handle them.

Sometimes it’s what goes wrong that make you a better traveler on the next trip and beyond.

The passenger from hell

Everyone’s had one next to them. The plight was beautifully illustrated in the film Planes, Trains and Automobiles when the mild-mannered Steve Martin finds himself stuck on a flight next to a talkative shower-ring salesman played by John Candy.

Of course, there a plenty of friendships and relationships that have taken off on planes but there are those moments when you just want to read, sleep or check out the flight attendants. It pays to be polite, as you would in any other life situation, since you’re going to be spending a lot of time next to your fellow passenger.

Under most circumstances, I’d rather put up with an annoying person next to me than be rude as it will cast a pall over the flight if you cause offence.

Donning headphones and eye-patches are good ways to send an emphatic message you’d rather not converse. If you’re really lucky there may be spare seats to which you can escape and get some peace.

To give or not to give

Tap, tap, tap. It’s the sound of a child knocking on the window of your taxi at a set of traffic lights in a developing country. It’s one of the trickiest, and often heart-wrenching, decisions to make: do I give or do I ignore the person who is begging for my charity?

The current thinking in travel circles is not to give money to beggars, since it perpetuates the practice and creates a culture of dependence. If you want give do so to a trusted charity who you know will make sure that it’s put to good use.

My feeling is to leave the decision to the traveler’s personal discretion. But there is no easy answer to this age-old traveller’s dilemma. Once when I was in Laos on a luxury cruise along the Mekong, the boat stopped at a riverside village for a shore visit.

Everyone ignored the guide instructions not to give money to the woman and instead gave them gifts such as food, toiletries and school equipment. All of the passengers virtually bought out the local village store and distributed the purchases to the local people. It felt good, and it must have felt even better for the villagers.

Placating the prickly Parisians

A holiday in Paris tends to provoke a feeling of elation and excitement that you’re about to spend time in one of the most magical cities on earth. Then you’re struck by a sinking realisation: I don’t speak French and I have to deal with the Parisians.

I tend to be more understanding of the Parisians than most visitors to the so-called City of Light. How would you feel if you lived in a city that each year sees 27 million tourists descend on the city? Probably as prickly as the Parisians, I’d say.

The most common piece of advice in handling Parisians is to try and learn some of the local lingo and pleasantries. For the French, people who remain fiercely proud of their language, it’s a mark of respect.

And in a country that celebrates style it pays to dress up in Paris, if only to blend in and not immediately identify yourself as a tourist. Look and act like a tourist and you’ll be treated like one in Paris.

Credit when credit isn’t due

I was recently in Barcelona, waiting in a hotel lobby early one morning for a taxi, as an American couple discovered that the payment for their accommodation had been refused by their credit-card provider back in the US.

As the taxi was taking a long time to arrive I was witness to the agony of the couple using the phone at reception to speak to the credit-card provider back home in the US. Their conversation seemed to go on interminably until they discovered that they had given the bank the wrong dates for their travels.

The lesson: check whether it’s necessary to alert your credit-card company or bank of the dates of your travels, as is increasingly the case these days.

Make sure you factor in time differences into those dates, as the couple appeared not to have done. And travel with more than one card. It was a lesson I learnt myself a week or so later in Lisbon when I received an SMS from my bank stating that one of my cards had been suspended.

The bank had noticed spending in a faraway land (in reality, a mini-shopping spree by yours truly) and was worried about fraud. Fortunately I was able to contact them and explain I was in Portugal and the suspension on the card was lifted.

The tipping point

Even after a lifetime of travel I still find tipping a challenge. Coming from a country where a tip is a discretionary “gift” by the customer in reward for good service it’s a shock to experience countries like the US where not leaving a gratuity is considered akin to theft.

A well-travelled colleague of mine once told me he was at a restaurant in the US and, having not left a tip because he cared neither for the service or the food, was literally pursued down the street by an outraged waiter demanding his gratuity.

My view is the “when in Rome” principle, especially when workers such as taxi drivers and waiting staff rely on tips to earn a decent wage. As much as you may resent them it’s best to submit to the local customs, lest you cause offence, outrage or worse.

Budget for tips before you go – most good country guidebooks have sections on tipping. In some countries service is included in the bill. If you’re not sure when you’re there, ask the concierge or the front-desk staff what the local practice, though before they tell you, they may ask for a tip themselves.

After graduating University with a degree in Business, like every other fresh faced, ambitious young professional I joined the ‘rat race of life’.

After 2 years of stress, meeting ‘sales targets’, being abused by disgruntled clients, getting up at stupid times in the dull British weather, I had decided this was enough and there must be more to life somewhere out there in the World.

Without much planning, money or resources I handed in my resignation and bought a one way ticket to Thailand and a few days later I was lying on the white pristine sands of Lamai beach Koh Samui (an island off the East coast of Thailand).

It did not take me long to get addicted to this easy relaxed way of life and subsequently over the last four years I have lived in some of the most beautiful places on Earth. Some countries I have lived in include Cambodia, Thailand, India, Australia, New Zealand, Sierra Leone, Malaysia and Singapore.

I have trekked the jungles of India, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Sierra Leone, have had countless encounters with animals and wildlife you would never imagine seeing. The world is literally your oyster and you can do what ever you want from, trekking in luscious wildlife enriched jungles to lying on desolate beaches, living with local tribes high up in the mountains, and when you feel like it you can live a cosmopolitan life in the city.

The purpose of this article is to let you know that there is a big wide world out there ready for you to see and experience.

I look in the rearview mirror as I spin slowly up another grade along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Even with the low gearing and lightweight saddlebags, it still takes some effort to get my steel framed touring bicycle up the steep inclines along the scenic byway. Behind me, a gigantic Chevy Pickup truck crawls into view around a bend, moving just the slightest bit faster than I, dragging a “camper” the size of a modest home behind it.

I roll off to the side of the road and checkout the view of the valley below me while the behemoth groans passed, belching diesel smoke from its dual exhaust tips.

Less than a mile up the road I roll into a small turnout and meet a local contingent of birdwatchers scanning the skies for birds of prey during the annual hawk migration. We talk about the birds and their routes and shared a laugh when I mistakenly point at a turkey vulture and asked “what kind of hawk is that?” The people with the trailer? Nowhere to be seen, the turnout, and its expansive views of the valley below are far too small for their over-sized truck and trailer.

When you only have two wheels and are self-propelled traveling light is more necessity than luxury, but I have always found that the independent travel is nearly always easier and more interesting when you have less stuff to deal with. From getting where you are going to getting around once you get there, the rule of “have less / do more” holds true just about everywhere you want to go.

Traveling Light Makes Travel Faster

Most of the time, travel is more about the journey than the destination, but for some adventurers limited time means that the adventure doesn’t start when they leave the house but rather at some preplanned jumping off point along the way. In cases like that getting to the start of the adventure quickly and easily adds more time to actually enjoy the travel experience. And even for those on extended travels, getting through customs lines and airport queues quickly can add hours of time better spent enjoying the world around you. When you travel with only what you need – rather than with everything you think you need – your travel options expand quickly. Carrying a single small bag rather than multiple suitcases speeds up all forms of public transportation, from getting on planes and trains to going through customs. The less you have to deal with the faster everything moves.

Traveling Light Increases your Travel Flexibility

When you carry everything you need with you, you can take advantage of options as they arise, rentals cars can be quickly returned and spur of the moment side trips require simply walking off of one bus and onto another instead of hunting down baggage, ensuring that it gets on the right bus, dealing with added fees, etc.

Traveling Light is Cheaper

We live in the age of add-on fees. The more you bring the more it costs. More axles equal higher road tolls, and higher fees at campgrounds. Traveling with more luggage results in higher airline fees. Even when staying in a hotel, the lightweight traveler has the advantage of skipping up to their room while the fully prepared tourist has to spend time (and money) wrangling a bellhop, negotiating the hallways with the luggage cart, tipping, etc.

Traveling Light Lets You Bring More Home

I’m not talking about trinkets form the local gift shop here – will that “traditional handmade festival mask” really help you remember your trip better? Probably not, but the extra flexibility and options you gain by traveling light as well – as all the time and money you save – will help you see more, do more, experience more, and bring home more memories than you could ever gain if you were maxed out before you ever left the house.

Travel always involves compromise, on my bicycle trip I give up speed and range in favor of a slower pace, solitude and quiet, making a similar trip in a small car would have provided a bit more security and some flexibility, but I would have never seen the hundreds of miles of bike only pathways I’ve traveled along my journey and I would have never met many of the people who have come into my life as a result of my light transportation choice. There are as many ways to get to places as there are places to go, but for nearly every mode of travel, no matter what the destination taking less almost always results in coming home with more.
