The Adelaide area of South Australia is home to exceptional, clean and sandy beaches, many of which are close to the city centre, particularly around the Glenelg area, such as Aldinga Beach, Maslin Beach and Moana Beach. The Adelaide weather is perfect for a holiday most times of the year.

Even the winter months are not as bad as in most European countries and in the north of US. Adelaide has four defined seasons which are opposite to those in the northern hemisphere. The climate is Mediterranean, which means summers are hot and sunny, and winters are a bit wet and cool.

South Australia is the driest state in a dry continent, so you won’t have long periods of rain. The Adelaide weather can be a bit changeable, though.

Adelaide has a Mediterranean climate with warm, sunny weather for most of the year. Annual sunshine hours are high, at over 2,500 hours.

Rainfall comes mainly in winter. Unlike the east coast cities of Sydney and Brisbane, Adelaide’s skies are cloudier in winter than in summer Despite the occasional extreme day, most people find summers in Adelaide more pleasant than those in Sydney, Brisbane or Perth. These cities have higher humidifies than Adelaide; Adelaide enjoys the lowest humidifies of any Australian city.

Melbourne is considered Australia’s bar capital and hub of live music, comedy and Broadway music theatre. Melbourne has a vibrant nightlife encompassing cocktail lounges, pubs, underground dance clubs and international theatre productions.

The extent of the Melbourne nightlife and entertainment always impresses those new to Melbourne; and why shouldn’t it? As a combined total, Melbourne has over 1,000 pubs, bars and nightclubs.

Closing times in Melbourne are often staggered, with one set of pubs perhaps closing at 11pm, the next set at 1am, and the rest at 3am. A handful of venues have a 5am or even 7am license. This nicely ensures that the Melbourne nightlife and entertainment tends to move around a little – what might be a dead nightlife spot at 11pm might be heaving at 1am.

In Melbourne, find an ever-increasing number of trendy clubs and bars, ideal places for convivial drinking, Sex In The City–style socializing and grooving to the chilled sounds of DJs late into the night. Melbourne also boasts Australia’s largest concentration of live music venues, where local and international bands cover everything from grunge rock and techno to jazz, blues and the avant-garde. As well, you can see the latest Hollywood blockbuster, catch a cabaret show featuring one of Melbourne’s comedy stalwarts or visit the Crown Entertainment Complex, home to Australia’s largest casino, cinemas, discos and designer stores.

Melbourne has a lively passion for social eating and drinking, which is reflected in the thousands of restaurants serving up gastronomic experiences from around the world. Everywhere you look you will uncover a vast array of fashionable cafes, where you can enjoy Melbourne’s existential coffee culture to the fullest.
Melbourne is a style-setter with some of the best shopping and nightlife in Australia. Whether you are searching for haute couture or vintage clothing, sparkling chardonnay, uber-chic bars, clubs or jazz venues, Melbourne has it all.

Auckland may not be Paris or New York, but it has its share of night entertainment. The smarter venues are down on the waterfront, around the America’s Cup Village and the new Princes Wharf development.

True to its reputation as the country’s most cosmopolitan city, Auckland is undoubtedly the best night out in New Zealand. Particularly wild on weekends, a chic, bohemian air hangs around the action in many of the city’s bars and clubs.

The Auckland bar scene is split across four distinct areas of the city, with the center of town acting as a middle ground between the (smarter, older and richer) Parnell and (younger, hipper) Ponsonby crowds.

Naturally, it’s Ponsonby, with its younger, studenty crowd, that’s most likely to appeal to the backpacker in Auckland. Located just west of the city center, it’s home to a host of more alternative cafés and smaller, packed-out side-street bars and restaurants.

Although more expensive, visitors should still visit the Viaduct and Princes Wharf areas of the city (particularly in the summer). Both have a number of vibrant bars and cafés where a drink comes with great views of the bustling waterfront.

The best way to find out what is going on in the city is to find some local demonstrations of the bands at a local club or venue. Also, the arts scene in Auckland is picking up fast and on any night of the week, there are choices between a couple of plays, comedy and some dance or opera.

As a general rule, many bars in Auckland shut around midnight from Sunday through to Tuesday, with nightclubs tending to close at around 1am. However, on weekends most bars stay open until 2 or 3am and nightclubs keep their doors open until at least 4am.

For a night of thrills and excitement, try your luck at one of New Zealand’s casinos where you’ll find a range of gaming tables and machines. Casinos sometimes also offer restaurants, live music and dancing. (You must be 20 years of age or older.) For a quieter night, unwind in a bar or restaurant and enjoy New Zealand’s fine cuisine, wine and beer.

Melbourne enjoys a temperate climate with warm-hot summers; spring and autumn are balmy and mild, the winters cool.

There is a reputation for rain in the city, which is statistically unfounded as Melbourne receives only 50 percent of the average rainfall of either Brisbane or Sydney. Perhaps it can sometimes be a little unpredictable; however, it is a comfortable environment to be in whatever the season. In fact it is a great place to watch the seasons change, they are so clearly defined and so highly visual within the many parks and gardens of autumn and spring, giving rise to all of nature’s spectacular beauty and charms within the confines of a great city.

Melbourne lays within the southern hemisphere where the seasons are reversed to those in Europe, North America and most of Asia. Melbourne’s changes of seasons are renowned for starting late, the “official” first day of summer is 21st December, but it rarely feels like summer until mid January or even later. During the summer months outdoor activities in particular the fabulous Melbourne beaches are popular with both locals and visitors.

Auckland, on New Zealand’s North Island, has a warm temperate maritime climate which means it sees all four seasons and no extremes of temperature. It receives quite high levels of rain year round and is also quite humid. As it is in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reversed to those experienced in the northern hemisphere, so Christmas falls in early summer while July sees people putting on their jackets. Auckland is the warmest and sunniest part of New Zealand.

Auckland enjoys warm, rather dry summers and mild, wet winters. The climate is comfortable all year round except in the summer months when a combination of heat and humidity can lead to some rather sticky days and nights. Frosts in winter are very rare.

Auckland’s climate is quite subtropical at times, with an average of seven to eight hours of sunny weather each day in Auckland. Weather in Auckland and New Zealand can change quickly, with tropical cyclones and cold fronts affecting the climate at times. Auckland and New Zealand feature a moderately high rainfall and rainy weather can occur at any time of the year, although it is more likely in the winter.
