The city of Amsterdam, the cultural capital of Holland with beautiful canals, Museums and architecture. However I had to face its nasty streetlife within my first few minutes !
Alighting at Amsterdam station, my first time in this diverse city I was walking to my hotel amongst the throng of people when suddenly this street thug grabbed me by the arm and offered me cheap electric goods if I came with him up an alleyway. I sure wasn’t going to fall for that con. Street thugs tried that one on me in Paris near the Moulin Rouge a week earlier, so by now I’d heard it all before from these criminals the World Over. I was really getting pissed with this guy’s attitude so I told him to F— Off ! I kept walking but he persisted to point I had to push him away. “OK man you watch yourself cause when I see you again I’ll fix you up” he yelled as I walked away. This made me fume, I just hate Drug dealing Bullies ! instead of going to pick up my rental car I decided to go strait to the hotel and freshen up, have workout in their Gym do some weights and smash into the Big Red Bag, a good training session to sharpen up for the impending confrontation with this thug. I came out and hired a bike, I practiced a few swings with the bike in the local park and went looking for this big bully.
Riding along the canal near the Station I soon saw him with two other guys harassing most of the tourist as they went by, I thought these guys have been doing this to long and about time someone stood up to them! I rode strait over to them with a giant skid keeping the bike between myself and the three thugs. They looked shocked that some tourist was challenging their turf ! The larger one said “Hey Tour De France all over” I gave them a look and I raised the bike at them and said “I start my training early !” well what a sight to see them all scamper off in various directions ! I had a laugh with some Canadian backpackers that witnessed the whole drama. One back for the entire long suffering tourist having to put up with these unwanted louts !

Great to hear of a “Real Man” standing up to these thugs. I myself have been aproached by these cowards !
